Scott Coker: Bobby Lashley’s next opponent could be Brett Rogers
Posted by James Kimball | Under Recommended Supplements Sunday Jan 31, 2010Victorious this weekend at Strikeforce: "Miami" was heavyweight Bobby Lashley, who made the most of his promotion debut by stopping last-minute fill-in Wes Sims in the first round.
Though the former WWE superstar dominated the match from beginning to end (all of two-plus minutes), many questions still remained about the prospects of Lashley's future in the sport.
We may however, have those questions answered sooner rather than later.
SI.com is now reporting that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker would like to see Lashley take a gigantic step up in competition and face former number one contender and consensus number seven heavyweight, Brett "The Grim" Rogers.
Also one the card, heavyweight Bobby Lashley, a hyped fighter who many want to compare to Brock Lesnar because of his dominating physical appearance and professional wrestling ties, dominated an overmatched, undertrained Wes Sims to earn a stoppage. The performance did nothing to advance Lashley's career. That may come next, said Coker, who would like to see a bout between Lashley, now 5-0, and Brett Rogers.
To say a fight with Rogers would be a big step up for Lashley would be gross understatement. From fighting Wes Sims, a man that couldn't even win one fight in the TUF house, to stepping inside the cage with a man that just gave the greatest heavyweight the sport has ever seen, Fedor Emelianenko, all he could handle into the second round, would be a very tall order for the still-green prospect.
What do you think? Would Lashley have a chance against Brett Rogers? Would he even make it out of the first round?
Let's hear it Maniacs.
